Chook Run

RND 26 - The final round had 5 people vying for their name on the trophy. Well done to Duane, Noel and Richard Ashman on winning the night and well done to Duane and Richard in catching Dan and well done to Dan for good golf throughout the year. NTP Snowy and Richard Ashman.

RND 25 - The penultimate run didn't close out the season with the potential for 5 others to join Dan at the top in the final round. A great turn out with 21 players, well done to Wally Cameron and Jake to go around the course in par resulting in a net 24.5 score. Second with no cigar went to Senior and Snowy. NTP to Wal and Snr.

RND 24 - A huge 38 points to Muzza - though some may say not so huge when you play off a handicap of 21 for nine holes! Three shots clear of eBay on 35 points (on a count back from Galvo - keep the followers still in the chase for the title).

RND 23 - Well done to Dan Galvin who fired a 1 under off the stick - but not good enough to secure a chook! First went to Noel Ashman with 35 points followed closely by Junior on 34 points.

RND 22 - The editor has been away so little can be said about round 22 and 23 outside of the winners- Ambrose on the back nine - Snowy & Jnr combined to score 23.5 points followed by Galvo and eBay on 24 points.

RND 21 - Just 5 weeks to and the giant sleepers are awakening! Victory to Noel Ashman with 35 points, followed closely by Robbo Jnr with a 34 who may have left his run a little late. NTP on the 4th went to Kel and the 6th to Jnr.

RND 20 - 23 players turned out to via for one of three chooks. Some big numbers starting to come out - both scores and handicaps! Well done to Galvo Jnr finally back in the winners circle after a hiatus, scoring 34 points. Geoff Labram collected his second chook in as many weeks and BJ also scored a chook. A big week of moves with four players now equal top on the table.

RND 19 - Ambrose week. The win secured by BJ & Duane, just pipping team Geoff's. This brings Duane level with Richard on 5 chooks with a pack of chasers just one chook behind.

RND 18 - Controversy on the deck! A review of handicaps found some major anomalies which alter the results for the night. Well done to Noel Ashman, securing his second chook of the season with 28 points. Two other chooks going to Snowy and Duane who collected his 2nd in as many weeks heading the charge to chase down Richard Ashman. NTP - BJ - 6th.

RND 17 - The front 9 was played on round 17 with three chooks to be won. Clear winner Wally Cameron smashed the field with 35 points, 3 clear of equal second Duane and Robbo Senior. No NTP's on the night.

RND 16 - Ambrose night had 20 players attempting to win a chook but clear winners were Team Secretary and Wal Jones who a shot 3 under of the stick net 25.5 - well done. NTP to eBay on the 6th.

RND 15 - Another stinking hot night but 11 players braved the elements. Wally Cameron secured his third chook on a count back to Noel Ashman - sorry Noel, no chook for you! No NTP for anyone tonight.

RND 14 - Frances Boehm secured the single chook on offer with 11 players competing. BJ managed to somehow put a ball on the scrape on the 6th to collect a ball.

RND 13 - 8 players for the New Years eve Ambrose Run. The chook went to team Richard and Junior.

RND 12 - The Turkey Run - 17 players turned out for Christmas Eve Eve run. Congrats to Wally Cameron securing his second chook for the year. Duane secured the second chook and Manto out it on on the 6th.

RND 11 - The penultimate round for 2015 had 18 players turn out for a hot one. Some massive scores starting to come in with sizeable handicaps. Manto had an absolute day out scoring 32 points! 2nd went to Wally Cameron on a count back from Robbo Snr. NTP on the 6th went to the Secretary who made the putt!

RND 10 - A lovely warm afternoon saw 20 players vying for three chooks on offer. Special mention to the boys from Beechworth turning out to play, I am sure this will be reciprocated sometime this summer. The winner with a massive 29 points was Manto - when your hot, your hot. Second went to the Secretary and the final chook on a count back to BJ. No one managed to land on either scrape.

RND 9 - 18 players turned out to contest ambrose this week. Clear outright winners were Kel & Galvo Jnr winning by over 4 shots, carding a 3 under off the stick net 25¼. Team Executive (Pres & Sec) come in second with 29.5 points. NTP on the 4th went to Geoff Labram and to Dan on the 6th.

RND 8 - Another scorcher with the temperature hovering in the low 30's for the 8th round. A few notables were out this week, leaving a smaller field of 15 vying for 2 chooks on offer. Two golfers hit 26 points with eBay loosing the count back to Border. Robbo Senior secured NTP on the 4th and no one managed to secure on the 6th.

RND 7 - 17 players for Stableford week with probably the hottest conditions so far this season. 2 players recorded the highest score of the night of 25 points. The count back went to our current Chook King - Richard Ashman. Second to BJ. Second place taker also placed a lovely shot on the 6th, leaving his tee shot on top of the old hole! And he went on to make the putt. The 4th was safe with no one managing to hit the scrape.

RND 6 - Ambrose week - 20 players. Another beautiful afternoon for golf. Some great scores coming but no one could keep pace with the team of snowy & Galvo taking first place with a net 28.75 points. NTP on the 4th went to Galvo and the 6th to Snowy.

RND 5 - 31 players - an absolute fantastic turnout! The buzz on the deck after the game was terrific. Even better was the result - 5 chooks were on offer and the scores were high. The Secretary had a day out scoring 27 points - well clear of the rest of the field. Next was a two way count back with Geoff Labram taking second place, followed by Brendan Jones. Richard Ashman collected his third chook taking him to outright lead in the king trophy. Finally Galvo Senior moved up the tally with his second chook for the year (Seniors odds are firming to beat Junior by years end). NTP to The Captain on the 6th and Wal Jones on the 4th.

RND 4 - Round 4 saw a total of 21 players turn out - another great attendance. Some high scores overall but the highest was Galvo Senior with a huge 27 points. Three players finished with 24 points with the count back going to Duane Washington and Richard Ashman - bad luck Muzza. NTP yet again to Mick Rogers on the 6th and Richard Ashman on the 4th.

RND 3 - The first Ambrose event of the 15/16 season was played on the front nine. 19 players turned out but unfortunately 6 players found themselves allergic to water and decided to not finished the round after showers half way through. The team of Richard Ashman and Dan Galvin were outright winners with a net score of 29.5, clear of 2nd place team of Scott Fraser and Mick Rogers by 1 shot. NTP on the 6th went to Mick Rogers.

RND 2 - The second round saw a terrific turnout with 20 players vying for the three chooks up for grabs. Stableford on the back nine. Three players had a night out, Kel Schultz came in first place on a count back from Robbo Snr (a 3/5 sealed the deal for Kel in the countback). Muz Fraser with a solid 24 points took out the third chook. NTP went to XCP on the 15th.

RND 1 - The first Chook Run was held with a turn out of 14 players. With many regulars being out this was a good  turnout. The front nine were played in Stableford format. Two chooks on offer the spoils went to Dan Galvin with 22 points followed by Noel Ashman on 21 points. Four players finished with 20 points, just missing out. No NTP on the 6tn NTP, on the 4th went to Sam Robinson.

Indigo Shire Challenge

A solid turn-out by us at the Indigo challenge held Sunday with 13 players representing Yackandandah. Whilst we had some terrific scores, the home ground advantage could not be overcome with Rutherglen taking the out right win. We finished second followed by Chiltern and then Beechworth.

Mitta Mitta Annual Tournament

About ten players attended the Mitta Mitta Annual Tournament held Sunday 20th September. We were unfortunate not to come home with any titles with a few players very close. Perhaps the best golf shot of the day went to the Secretary who landed the NTP on the 9th.

Tallangatta Lakeside Classic 4BBB

***CORRECTION - Team eBay/Border took out second place in a count back***

The Lakeside Classic was held last Sunday. Team Ebay/Border came home with third. They are trailing the overall leaders for the TriClassic by just two points.

It is going to go right down to the wire at the third and final event, our Hillside Classic to be held Sunday 1st November.

The North East District 4 ball Championships were held on the 30th August at Yarrawonga/Mulwala Golf Club. Our club was well represented with six groups attending.

Congratulations goes to Noel and Richard Ashman who brought home the silverware. This is the second year in a row Yackandandah have won the event with Gordon Dickson and Dan Galvin overcoming the field last year.

Trevor and Neil Britton, eBay and The Artist also won balls - well done to all.
